"Lola Na, Pero Pwede Pa" an intimate gathering of women victim-survivors of Japanese military sexual slavery during WW1 and friends and supporters, August 14th, 10 am-12 at the Bahay ni ISIS Conference Room (no. 3 Marunong Street, Brgy. Central, Quezon City). The event is a commemoration of the International Day of Protest by “Comfort Women” (August 15th) and a celebration of the struggles of the Malaya Lolas. The event is organized by KAISA-KA and WEDPRO on behalf of the Philippine Women's Network on Peace & Security (PWNPS). Present were representatives from Amnesty International-Philippines and their intern-volunteers from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), Buklod Center (Olongapo City), Isis International-Manila, WomanHealth, Jona Cham of Citrus Production, Japanese media; friends Barbs Fortunato, Marlene Francia, Luz Martinez, among others. A donation was given to the Lolas by the PWNPS, proceeds from the sale of the video “Songs of Malaya.” The video can be purchased from WEDPRO (426-7479; wedprophils1989@yahoo.com) for Php200.00.
